Thank you for your testimony. I’ve watched several hearings at this point and I’ve noticed that the Dems don’t take this seriously. They come with an agenda — nasty “gotcha” questions that go nowhere. They’re not curious. They haven’t done anything but the most cursory and biased research. They’re arrogant and unkind. The Republicans are always respectful and either know the issue or ask reasonable questions. I say this as a previously life-long Dem. It’s tremendously disappointing and makes me feel hopeless.

I looked up Hutto and his wife is a pediatrician. Really makes me wonder about what she’s advising her young patients.

Prisha, I am so sorry. I know these are just words and they cannot undo the harms you've endured. But the retraumatization you face from legislators and activists is outrageous. Thank you, and hugs to you.

Thank you for seeing that and caring.

The way you were treated is an outrage, Prisha. Trauma on top of trauma. I'm so sorry you had to go through this.

Thank you for your testimony. I have heard you speak many times and i am always awed by your moving description of the ways that the medical world has injured you. You are important in opening the eyes of many and protecting many others

Thank you for enduring the slings and arrows of politics on behalf of families like mine! Think what a small, weak person he must be to react thusly to the truth. He tried to bully you in hopes that you'd go away, but the important part is YOU DIDN'T! You faced that MoFo down! Try to think of the victory it is!

If it's any consolation, those of us who've spent years in various political fights can tell you that they do this to everyone. Even if it's a local funding bill to repair a frigging water tank. And there are two versions of this guy--the one who does it to your face like he did, and the one who's nicey-nice while stabbing you in the back. Personally, I've grown to kind of appreciate the ones who show their true colors; at least there's some honesty in that. But either way, I truly believe they create their own hell. And deserve it.

Try not to give the bells and whistles your attention, which they don't deserve. Try to think of the quiet inner workings going on around you. Many people in that room were silently listening, taking your words in, maybe changing their hearts a little. Sometimes inner questions look like outer bullying. For all you know, even that a**hat was listening, and chastened by the story you told.

And try to see victory where it really lies, and not to take on more burden than you deserve. Politics is politics. There are always going to be political groups who believe the most outrageous things and give their allegiances to the most undeserving. It's not your responsibility to fix that fact of life, which is rarely if ever like it's portrayed in the movies, where brave souls like you get standing ovations to swelling music and everyone in the legislature unanimously regrets being an a**hat. That's not what you're there to do, and no one expects it of you. Where victory lies is in the small but very real turnings of the heart that you set in motion. The slow drips that gradually form canyons.

Your victories will be out in the real world, in places where you may not be able to see them. The gender-intimidated parent who over the next three years will gradually question the propaganda around her more than she would have, because she saw your testimony. The child who will be saved because you started her mother's mind down a different path.

Those victories are real, and much more important than swelling music and nicey-nice platitudes in the legislature. Because they'll save lives.

May it go easier for you as you learn this. May the Huttos of the world have less power over you as you gradually see through their invisible cloth, and learn to laugh at what naked clowns they are.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all you do!

Dear Prisha, I was there and was livid by how you were treated that day. I have sent a letter of complaint to Senator Hutto and copied the Chairman of the committee on it.

That is true. I wonder if its narcs who have a predisposition to be politicians, or if being a politician turns you into a narc.
